The Fontanarossa Intermodal Hub project is conceived as a new connection hub integrating the airport, railway, metro, public road transport, and private and shared mobility. The building is predominantly arranged on a single level, according to an open and continuous layout. The central hall forms the functional and representative core of the complex, from which routes branch out towards the different transport systems. Variations in the roof volumes emphasize the hierarchy of functions and strengthen the architectural identity of the project. A main axis connects the railway stations to the central hall and continues towards the bus stops and airport shuttle areas, while also providing access to private vehicles, shared mobility services, and bicycles along the route. Ticket offices, retail areas, a coffee bar, food area, and passenger services are closely integrated with circulation flows, ensuring intuitive wayfinding and minimizing unnecessary movement. Materials, lighting, landscaped areas, and a large reflecting pool complete the design, giving the new intermodal hub a strong and distinctive identity within the airport setting.
