The building is located on the slopes of Etna, on a steeply sloping plot looking out on to the Ionian Sea.  This position strongly influenced the distribution of internal spaces; the house is split on 3 levels, the living areas are organised on the ground floor, the first floor is entirely given over to the sleeping quarters while the basement is the natural location for the garage and a large open plan lounge with a fireplace. 

The type and the position of the windows allows for an easy communication between indoors and out.  A special feature of this project is the variety of finishings used on the building.  

The various blocks are finished in different materials, faced bricks contrast with monochrome compact surfaces in plaster, from the yellow of the sleeping quarters to the cobalt blue that characterises the vertical connections.

The landscaping outside is led by the needs of the various rooms and is organised according to the original topography of the grounds. 

The whole effect is completed by the addition of a few distinctive elements, a ramp, stone walls and a careful plantings of native herbs, all dominated by the presence of  a large palm.
