The project was an opportunity to regenerate a key urban area in the Etnean town of Milo, framed by the Town Hall, the Mother Church, and Piazza Belvedere, the historic heart of community life. Three spaces at different elevations were reconnected to improve accessibility and livability, with new pathways and vertical links emphasizing the transitions in height. At the upper level lies the Town Hall square, while below, the new multipurpose hall is connected to a shared parking area. The redesign created a flexible space, adaptable to temporary events and exhibitions. A new portico was introduced to define the square’s frontage, highlighting the entrance to the hall while also serving as a sheltered resting place. The design draws contemporary inspiration from tradition and the material character of the Etnean landscape, with lava stone used in paving and cladding to enhance texture and color.
